Can anyone give me some names, addresses, or phone #’s for publishers of kids books? Do I need to have them bound, do I need to somehow include pictures (I am not an artist lol), or can I just send in a typed version? Please help, I am ready to make some money on some of my stories! I wrote one for one of my college midterms and the professor suggested I try having some published, he really liked it!
Go to your local Library and find the Writer’s and Artist’s Yearbook. It lists publishers.
You need to write to the editor with an outline of your book and maybe a sample chapter.
You don’t need to worry about anything except providing the actual story. The publisher takes care of the rest.
Don’t be disheartened by rejection slips. JK Rowling got loads before her book was accepted.

I was told that it’s a good thing to find an agent. I don’t know how plausible that is, but it’s an idea.
And no, do not get discouraged.

Get a a book from your local library on how to prepare a book proposal. Prepare a proposal according to what the book tells you. Buy a copy of the Writer’s Guide to Publishers, and look up a publisher that publishes children’s books. Write, call, or look up that publisher on the internet and ask for a copy of its guidelines. Maybe get the Writer’s Guide to Publishers first because it usually has a good section explaining how to write a book proposal. Its a lotta work, but its worth it. Good luck.
