CPSIA 2008′s new safety laws are hurting local toymakers and businesses.

Mel Taber of Camillus, NY runs a toymaking business out of his home and is concerned that CPSIA 2008′s new testing standards will be so costly, he will be put out of business.

My Fox Chicago delves into the new regulations set by the CPSIA 2008 on lead testing for toys. Besides giving information on how parents can check to see if the toy they plan to put under the Christmas tree is safe, they talk to Rick Woldenberg, Chairman, of Learning Resources. Woldenberg is concerned that the CPSIA has not made provision for handcrafters, artisans and small manufacturers of childrens items and the strict mandatory testing will put many out of business.

Maurice Sendak talks about his work, childhood and inspirations, in a DVD by the Rosenbach Museum & Library in Philadelphia, www.rosenbach.org. The Rosenbach is the sole repository of the original artwork of famed author and illustrator Maurice Sendak and a foremost authority on all things Sendak.
